ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION & WORK CENTER
(AEWC)
Through the AEWC Program, NVOC-AC offers a tutoring and independent
study program for youth (14-18 years old) who have not been in high
school for over 45 consecutive days. The course of study leads to a
High School Diploma, a GED Certificate, and/or occupational training.

Cal-WORKs: (California Work Opportunity
and Responsibility for Kids)
The GAIN/Cal-WORKs program is a short term educational and/or
occupational training program designed for TANF (Temporary Assistance
to Needy Families) clients referred to North Valley Occupational Center
and Aviation Center by the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS).
The program offers individualized instruction which targets basic
skills, job readiness skills, and a course of study leading to a GED
Certificate, a High School Diploma, or short-term occupational
training. Interested persons may call James Nelson, GAIN/Cal-WORKs

SPECIAL SERVICES
Support services to assist the hearing impaired, visually impaired,
learning and orthopedically disabled are available at NVOC-AC. Services
include vocational goal selection, tutoring, sign language
interpreting, guidance, notetaking, and job placement. Special Services
personnel are available to serve you at the North Valley Occupational
Center campus at (818) 365-9645 or TDD (818) 365-7743.

Students may enroll at any time as space is available. Senior
high school students in public, parochial or private schools are
eligible to enroll in day, evening and/or Saturday occupational
