McCarthy with the video update for the North Valley Occupational Center and this is for the week of January 27th 2025 we have a lot to cover tonight so here we go I'm going to tell you very quickly that uh our attendance is doing great we have now officially cracked over 5,000 students in fact as of last Friday we enrolled 5,033 students in total for our programs so we are moving of course in a very positive direction and we're excited about all of the Outreach that's going on to bring new students and returning students back to our programs so a couple things I wanted to share um it's a mixture of staff and students information we are going back into doing our instructional rounds our next uh series or cycle of instructional rounds will take place next week and the teachers whose classrooms will be visited will be notified we will be bringing a team of uh folks from both central office as well as our administrators advisors and um teaching staff to come visit classrooms so that we can focus in on this year's instructional problem of practice which just to remind everybody we are focusing in on elements 3 B2 which is we want to increase the opportunities for our students during instruction to have student to student discussions with each other that engage them in their learning so that will be taking place next week also I wanted to mention that uh for our staff our teaching staff we will be posting the Matrix with the tentative assignments for the 2020 5526 school year yes I know it sounds kind of strange to be talking about that so early but we will be posting Matrix and tentative assignments and passing out preference sheets for teachers to complete uh as of February test so please be looking for that and more information on that to come then we want to recognize that we do have people uh students competing in the regional skills USA competition and students and staff if you haven't heard of that what's basically like this incredible Olympics for CTE students students from all over the United States come from both high school as well as college and Adult School levels to compete on behalf of their program that they're enrolled in the regional meaning the Los Angeles level and if they meddle if they get a gold uh silver or bronze medal they get to move on to the state level and then if they meddle at the state level they get to move on I believe it's just the people that gold are invited to move on to the national competition which currently takes place every year annually in Atlanta Georgia so this year I want to um say that we are sending out best wishes to Mr lemon's graphic design students who completing uh Miss Hansen's welding students as well as Miss delgado's uh Child Development students so bring home the gold North Valley and we're looking forward to seeing the results very shortly there's 1 more round of competitions believe this Saturday but we'll keep you all posted then um also wanted to mention that we had a wonderful Health uh Health relations diversity and Equity LAUSD student Workshop yesterday and they were focusing on a farming and welcoming School environments and it was a packed house we are so excited about that in fact our school has been asked if we might be willing to do a video featuring our students and staff so more on that later but we will be offering continued workshops throughout the school year for our students then I wanted to mention that we have the quarter to perfect attendance list which I'm going to be including in my email uh congratulations to all those staff members that maintain perfect attendance thank you for modeling excellent persistence for our students and again we want to make sure that our persistence is great that students are coming to school every day 5 of those lucky staff members will be randomly selected to receive gift cards for modeling perfect attendance for quarter 2 and then everyone will receive a certificate commemorating their great work with their attendance at North Valley also um I wanted to mentioned that we have a lot of resources that are going to be included in this video and connected to the email on immigration services uh rights uh for our immigration immigrant families and students and then uh I also want to welcome a staff members in February we will have our new buildings and grounds and structure Mr Leon joining us and a new ESL teacher Miss darte so when they come on board in February please give them a warm welcome have a great week
