hi everyone this is principal McCarthy with the North Valley Occupational Center video update for the week of May 6th 2025 and um this week we are celebrating teacher appreciation week so students this is a great week for you if you haven't thanked your teacher yet in some way for all of their hard work and dedication their encouragement them motivating you them having your back helping you through um difficult times and those deadlines please take moment to thank your teachers on behalf of the North Valley Occupational Center Administration we want to send a a heartfelt thank you out to all of our instructional team members and our teachers who to serve and they're out of classroom roles as advisors and um program coordinators so thank you so much everyone for all your hard work um this week you will see a variety of different um treats and goodies distributed in mailboxes as little tokens of our thanks as well as um the barbecue that we are having today Tuesday that will be on the main campus starting at noon and we have moved the location because of the wet weather to the the grill so teachers we hope that you will join us for a barbecue in your honor and then um we also have a message on the uh website just to let our community and our students know um it's teacher appreciation week so thank you to all of our wonderful teachers okay um next I want to let you all know that um of course this is graduation season so students we have 2 graduations plan for this year we are having back-to-back graduation ceremonies on Thursday May 29th in the evening at 5:30 in our garden area here at the main campus at North Valley we will be celebrating of our Career Technical education students who are finishing programs um throughout the year those students will be reached out to by our teachers and our counselors to find out who will be joining us for that wonderful event followed by a reception for family and friends in our garden area and then the following day Friday morning um May 30th we will be having our high school diploma high school equivalency certificate graduation in the Garden area at 10:00 a.m. so um teachers this is a great opportunity for you to bring your entire class to these wonderful events and um we hope that by having your students there it will be a wonderful motivational experience for them so that they know what they have to look forward to when they finish their programs here at North Valley and are our branch campuses so um also please graduates who are getting their High School diplomas and equivalency please check your graduation calendars or our Master calendar here on the website uh because the master calendar will be listing for example today May 6th um there'll be a North Valley graduation meeting at 7:30 this evening so all of those graduation events to just click on the day and then that information will be loaded onto the calendar for you so please make sure you attend graduation meetings as schedule we don't want you to miss out on important information for your own graduation then um also wanted to remind everybody that um attendance is so so important especially as we're moving in to these last few weeks of the school year it's critical students that you are attending every day um that you are not missing instruction I know it's tough especially as we're getting into the last month of school sometimes to drag yourself in to get that extra homework or those extra assignments done but this is the time when you need to dig deep and really motivate yourself because for remember that you came to school for a goal and to achieve that goal especially as it gets closer to the end you really have to work hard to make sure that you're meeting all your deadlines so again persistence attendance is important teachers and staff is encourage the students to be here every single day every hour of instruction and um we appreciate that and you will succeed students we believe in you finally I wanted to recognize our plant manager Mr Cruz Lopez he is being honored by LAUSD as an everyday hero and they will be having a lunch in um through LAUSD this month uh for at luminaries for all of our staff our classified support staff that have been selected and are recognized as LAUSD every day heroes the so thank you Mr Lopez and your entire um buildings and ground team for all the work you do have a great week everyone
