hi everyone this is principal McCarthy and this is the week of July 7th 2025 I want to welcome you to the third week of our summer term I hope classes are going well for you and that you're great progress students I'm excited that we are all here together learning uh and taking advantage of this wonderful 5 week summer session now remember that you have the opportunity to continue to invite your family and friends and our community to our Mullen classes and by enrolling in the summer session they get a head start on learning for the fall as well as they will secure themselves priority registration when we begin the fall registration the last week of summer term so a couple of pieces of information I'm just going to bring us over to our adult ed website and I'll remind everybody that uh we do have a special new class that we started in the spring but we're continuing to offer it in the summer it is the New Foundations to health careers the information is right on the website we're encouraging people who are interested in Allied Health to get a start head start on their education by starting with this new foundations to health careers course so please share that and um tell your family friends in the community to help us spread the word and then um just want to remind everybody that this is the new school year and we do have the master calendar available you can be checking the master calendar to take a look at uh any events that are going on uh as we move through the school year and you can just click through the various months and see what's posted you can actually go to a particular day and it will highlight what is scheduled for that day so you can keep up on what's happening at your school and as I always say that's important to your adults you should know what's going on with your school community at all times so uh we'll go back to the main page here and um there's a lovely picture of our LVN class that just graduated I'll show that to you again uh we are super proud of them there they are look at those fabulous faces and they're finishing up their studying for their last big exam and they already did their graduation ceremony but we're excited and look forward to starting the next LVN program which at this point um we do have a lot of work to do to get externships set up and paperwork in place uh we are not looking at starting the next LVN cohort until January of 2026 so more on that as we move through the school year next I just wanted to give you an update on what's happening with enrollment um the summer we are just doing an amazing job that we have as of last week we had 1,373 students enrolled for 3 for 3 weeks in December session and um that is just amazing remember we ended uh our school year last year with um just over 7,100 uh students so it's we're off to we're already off to a great start for the school year so keep coming remember persistence persistence always come to class it's important we're would tried to collectively work on the goal to increase our student persistence rate that's the attendance we want to make sure that we're getting up to between 73 and 74% and I know we can do this everybody uh if we work together as a school team then I wanted to mention that we do have our uh drills scheduled for every week this summer so this week uh we will be doing a lockdown drill and I will be um letting minding your teachers of that they've already received information as to how to review that information with you a lockdown drill is a drill that we call in the event that there is a danger in the surrounding Community or possibly outside the classrooms on the campus so it involves going into the offices and and classrooms shutting and locking the doors pulling the blinds moving away from the windows so uh you are protect yourself until an all-clear is called by the administration or law enforcement and we will be practicing that drill this coming Wednesday morning and evening and then finally I just want to remind everybody that I do send out an email to your teachers regarding advocating for adult education funding we did receive word that the federal government the administration is currently withholding adult education funding from all of the states and we are asking that you click on the link fill out the form that I've provided to your teachers and if you would like to advocate for adult ed Now's the Time to do it people don't be quiet speak up to preserve your adult education programs thank you
