everyone this is principal McCarthy with the video update for the week of September 2nd 2025 I hope that you all had a wonderful 4-day Labor Day weekend had an opportunity to relax and uh get a little bit of enjoyment in with family and friends or just maybe even sleeping in welcome back to the third week of the school year um we have a lot going on again as usual this week first of all I just want to let everyone know that um the data reports are not in from central office because of the holiday usually they have them ready for us by Tuesday but I can um let you know that I'm excited to report that we are up to an moment of 2500 522 students across our programs and we're already into the third week so we're doing quite well um also students just remember every week I talk about persistence it's very important that you attend every day collectively as a school Community we're trying to achieve a persistence rate this year of at least 76% we want to exceed our goal of last year where we're a little bit over 7 73% so everybody please make sure that you're coming to school daily and if you cannot make it always make sure you communicate with your teachers so they know it's going on um next thing I wanted to point out is that we will be um visiting classes teachers and staff starting what are called instructional rounds now this year we will be doing 7 Cycles so once almost every month we will be randomly selecting classrooms anywhere from 3 to 4 classrooms to visit on all of our campuses and myself and a team of teachers advisors and central office folks will be visiting just to observe and check out the learning that's going on um students would our hope is is that you will be actively engaged in instruction and actually participating with your fellow students not just sitting and listening passively but actively discussing and talking problem solving with your fellow students um because of course our teachers know that our instructional problem of practice as it as it was last year is to continue on working a specifically on student engagement activities that means pair work small group work Project work um we really want to see our teachers highlighting that and students we want you to be excited and engaged about your learning so those are the primary things we'll be looking for when we do our instructional rounds teachers of course will be not ified approximately we can advance so that they can prepare and do the very best um for their classes during those instructional round periods now remember teachers they are non-evaluative so we're just there to write down the data of what we have observed but we're excited because that information we shared out with the school community and our instructional leadership team to make decisions about how to move forward in terms of strengthening our instruction next I wanted to remind the that many of you have been rostered for formal evaluation this year please make sure you go into the my um pgs system I'm showing it to you here you want to log in and start filling out your initial planning sheet then next I want to move on to make sure that I'm inviting the students to attend the annual adult division La career Expo Saturday September 13th from 9 to 12 it'll be at a location South Central called The Beehive it's a beautiful location for events there will be Career Tech Ed programs feature demonstrations there will be job opportunities so come with your resume and dress to imp press finally let's see how much time we have left here I also want to let everyone know that we will be counting in our calendaring our instructional leadership team meetings for our folks that met last year and any new members and then we will be also preparing for our mid-cycle reacion so we will be in addition to having instructional leadership we will be also having what's called leadership team meetings at least once a month and prep ation to light our midyear report which is due at the end of this school year in June 2026 and then finally I just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful week and again please check at our website and remember to start utilizing the resources that are available there are students thank you and have a wonderful week
