hi everyone this is principal McCarthy with this week's video update for the week of October 21st 2024 I wanted to again start out with uh snapshot of our data and to share with you what's happening we did complete um quarter 1 so I wanted to um again share a little bit of information about what's going on quarter 1 ended on September 30th and so I wanted to share um what we're doing as far as um progress now this is the division-wide snapshot our division as a whole meaning our adult schools is up to at the end of September um serving uh 43,768 students overall and um you'll notice that um there are few areas in the completions where of course we are not finishing students right now but that's very normal because this is the beginning of the school school year sorry for that um and I want to go down to North Valley specifically so again you'll see that North Valley that data mirrors that for quarter 1 it's very normal at this time of year to not have high completion numbers and that makes sense because we haven't finished we haven't even finished try 1 for ESL we've got a lot of CTE classes that are still finishing their cohorts and of course a lot of our academic students start wrapping things up as they move into the spring term but overall you can see all these arrows in green that are up that those that are moment is up in these different program areas are persistence is up um are paired scores are up our learning oops sorry about that our learning benchmarks are looking great um just a little bit we need a little more growth in the ASC because we're going to be reaching out and finding those students in our communities that still need their high school diploma or high school equivalency we're going to be doing a lot of marketing and Outreach in that area specifically and then um persistence is again looking great just a little more growth needed in our CT program so CTE students I'm talking to you right now this is your principal asking you to make sure you are coming to class every day um and it is important especially in our CT program in particular because you are I assume here because you want to learn a job trade and if you get out into employment and you're not there every day and you have poor attendance you are not going to be employed for very long so make sure that you start practicing those really strong professional skills now while you're here in school with us help us to improve your school and I know I can count on you all right so that's our data snapshot I'm going to go ahead and close that and then I want to lead into this weekend we are super excited to announce that 2 of our wonderful team members Miss Lorena Hernandez who is going to be uh getting a support services classified award at the ccae fall Awards lunch in this Sunday so that September 27th staff were asking that everybody please if you're available come on and um join us and celebrate we're also celebrating our ESL advisor Miss Crystal Mendes so you can see right here there's a QR code go ahead and purchase your ticket um we want to be there to really support them and thank them for a job well done all right now speaking of rewards I'm excited to also announce this last weekend we had our fall Los Angeles Regional adult education Consortium conference and we are happy to report that um a bunch of our team members put together a wonderful um Innovative program and won an award for that the Innovation award in collaboration award for the winter Academy ESL climate literacy now that was for last December they did a wonderful program uh project-based climate literacy program in the ESL classes over winter Academy so I want to recognize Mr Bakin our assistant principal Miss Bedon Miss Crystal Mendez and our wonderful teacher is Mr Mangal Mr Jones Ms Cuseo and Miss Sandra Ramirez congratulations to all of them for their Innovation award okay next item let me close this guess I'll go over to the website it's more exciting than just looking at pages of data all the time right all right so here we are at the website um okay reminder that the every school safe Suicide Prevention uh is do folks so please get that done today if you're a staff member finally I want to remind you that the first plc's are meeting this Friday please make sure you attend it is going to be a great start to a new year where we're going to be helping our staff align all of our instructional initiatives and then finally I want to mention teachers speaking of winter Academy and students put on your calendar we will be having 3 days of instruction December 16th 17th 18th this year more later
