hi everyone principal McCarthy here with the video update for the week of March 31st 2025 first I want to start off by saying wow what an amazing career and um community resource Fair we had last Friday March 28th here on the main campus huge thank you to Miss Ramirez and the entire planning team as well as our advisors and our teachers who showcased our programs our student volunteers who were out there helping supporting us to make this event also our bookstore staff who did so much to make this event an incredible um opportunity including our hospitality room and um thank you of course to our vendors and community Partners who showed up to partner with us it was nothing but a success um compliments all the way around from everyone I spoke to so um prepare yourselves though because the community is already asking us to do this 2 times a year but we'll see how that goes for next School earlier so again congratulations and a big shout out to everyone and thank you also wanted to mention that we have our new healthcare classes that are starting this April um let me go ahead and refresh there's a little news alert here that shows up on our website site the new healthcare classes we are currently recruiting for are the brand new foundations of health careers and also medical terminology 1 I strongly advise anyone of our students or our community who is planning to uh get into for healthcare classes certainly come fall that you get these courses done now you have an opportunity to do this and we will be offering an IET version our hope is this summer um do want to point out that these classes do require a strong English proficiency level in reading and understanding and writing and listening skills so if you are in a ESL level 3 or below these classes are not for you at this time you can look at our summer offerings and if we offer it which is our hope those classes will be geared towards our uh English uh as a second language students so please if you're interested please register now visit the counseling office and um those classes will continue in the that we are launching them for the first time right now in the month of April I also wanted to mention that uh Mr bikin our climate literacy Champion um he created a video which is featured on the LUSD showcase for climate literacy I will send you all the links so you can check it out but it's awesome because here's all the other schools but here we are yay North Valley 1 of the adult schools that is being featured there's a Mr bikin you can listen to his video and watch it and then we have some pictures posted from our winter Academy of teachers and students who presented and did that project so thank you to them speaking of videos we had Miss Howard line and her husband Don come in and Don volunteered his time and talents to create a special video for us in partnership with LAUSD Student Health and Human Services it is a we are a firm video which I will send you a link for if you didn't receive it through Miss Hatter line we want to thank them for their time and their we also want to thank our um staff and students that participated in the video and for those of you that don't know that we are a we affirm um initiative is about creating safe welcoming School environments in all our LUSD schools for all of our student groups so we wanted to just be a part of that and show that adult education also offers these wonderful environments to our students and we support all of our students so again thank you to everyone for doing that then um let's see what else is going on I also want to welcome our new staff that are coming on board this month we are having a new teacher join us miss aragan will be joining us for English as a second language ESL and then we have a brand new act advisor will be coming on board Miss Norrie Julio will be joining us in the later part of April so please welcome them give them a warm North Valley welcome when you see them and then uh also want to give a shout out to our skills USA students and teachers from graphic arts the child development and Welding they will be competing at the state level this month so woohoo bring home the gold people for North Valley and then if they do they gold uh medalist Ashley want to Nationals in Atlanta Georgia this year as well so we're wishing them the very best and then finally I want to give a shout out to uh Mr bikin has a survey that we owe a technology survey he did send an email to everyone we're asking that teacher is an Abbe ASC and ESL please please please complete that survey this week we really need your input on technology use and finally I want to wish you all a wonderful week take care and thank you for supporting North Valley
