hi everyone this is fritzella McCarthy with North Valley Occupational Center update our video update is for the week of April 21st welcome back to everyone I hope you had a wonderful relaxing spring break and for those of you that celebrate any of our holidays that just passed um I hope you enjoyed your Easter and or your Passover if you were celebrating other other than that I hope if you don't celebrate those holidays you at least took some time off to relax and spend some time with family and friends and doing the things that you enjoy so now that we're back to school we're in that final push for the end of the school year and there's a lot going on today I just want to mention that we had a fabulous birthday um we started today by celebrating um at the North Valley campus and I know that our other campuses will also be doing Earth Day Celebrations this week we had crafts we had painting we had a Garden Walk uh Mr bikin is putting together pictures from that that we will share on our website so it was just a wonderful experience to be able to get out there in nature and enjoy the day a little bit of the day so um wanted to move over to our enrollment data and let you know that North Valley Occupational Center is way up to 6504 students as of April 21st enrolled as you can see we are um doing a fabulous job our enrollment is up by 12.2% as compared to the same time last year so you notice there were entering for quarter 4 this is the last quarter of the year so we really want to make that huge push I'm hoping that we can reach 7,000 students by the end of the school year so I don't know if we can pull it off but another students if we can get them into the door that would be amazing so um keep going and while we're talking about that students I want to send out a special message I'm looking at our persistence data from North Valley and I was noticing that our assistance rates way over here in the last column it's dropped a little bit now 70.8% sounds great that means that uh 70% of our students are coming regularly to class but I'm talking to those of you that the other 30% I need you to start coming to class on a regular basis it's very important that you do this because if you're making a commitment to educate yourself you know that if you're not here you're not learning and you're not moving forward so so please make sure that you're here every day to the end of the school year you can do this your teachers and your counselors and all our support staff are here for you so if you have any issues or concerns please let us know but please make an effort to be here every single day we want to see this persistence rates from North Valley go up we'd like to hit about 73% by the end of the school year so let's do this together as a team next I wanted to uh mention to everybody that um staff just keep in mind that we do have the annual breaking the silence child abuse awareness training that is due this month I'll be sending out dates and times will be offering trainings on the 29th and the 30th of this month at various different times at various different campuses every single staff member must go to an attend at least 1 of the in-person trainings this is a mandated training we have lots of options available for you so please take advantage of 1 of those that we have planned for the 29th or the 30th of this month um those are due as our mandatory training for safety for this month and then uh finally I wanted to give a huge shout out to our a wonderful um teams that are competing they just competed in the state level skills USA and for those of you that don't know what that is the skills USA is kind of like the Career Tech education Olympics where our teams of students go with the support um and guidance of their teachers and advisors administrators and they compete um in a regional than a state level and if they win a gold medal metal and state they actually go to What's called Nationals and then they compete for Metals there as well so it's just an exciting opportunity I believe we had 11 students compete and every single student medal so congratulate to all of our students who brought home gold silver and bronze medals on behalf of North Valley and I know we have 4 students um heading on from graphic design 3 from graphic design and 1 from welding that are made it to the Nationals and that will be in June so bring home the gold great job everybody and thank you so much have a great rest of the week
