hi everyone this is principal McCarthy with the North Valley Occupational Center video update for the week of May 19th 2025 hope you're all doing well happy belated Mother's Day to those of you that celebrate that beautiful day hope you had a great weekend we have so much to cover today as usual first I'm going to start by checking out the data with all of us and um currently the school um is really once again doing fabulously if you look at the North Valley Line in terms of enrollment we are up by a whopping 19.1% as compared to the same time last year and that's really a combination of growth from all 3 of our programs so when I said I would love to see us reach 7,000 boy I'm telling you this team is really pulling off some great work uh between the marketing Outreach customer service wonderful counseling and um classified support staff our advisors um thank you so much we are up to 698 students as of Monday next I want to talk a little a little bit about graduation we have graduation happening um this month we have 2 graduations and for those of you that are finishing up your high school diploma high school equivalency you should have received this graduation calendar all of your academic teachers have been provided this calendar there are a series of different events going on it's uh time to start paying for your grad fees as you can see also there will be some uh rehearsals coming up here and then the actual academic graduation for high school diploma high school equivalency this year will take place on Friday May 30th and we will be uh commencing ceremony at 10 a.m. here in the garden area then I also want to mention that we also have the CTE graduation and this year it's going to take place on Thursday May 29th and the ceremony will actually be at 5:30 in the evening out in the same Garden area and there have been some meetings there will be some rehearsals also CTE and academic students please keep in mind that we will will also be offering scholarships so I strongly advise you to apply for the scholarships and if you don't have the applications please talk to the counseling office or your teachers they will help you and provide you this applications please don't leave that money sitting on the table we would love to support you in your next Endeavors with your education and careers also um I wanted to talk to everyone briefly about summer school yes we will offering summer school it will be a 5-week summer session as it has been in previous years we do have the calendar available with all of our classes um set up uh in our counseling office but we are not releasing uh that to the public yet because the board has still not approved the district calendar for the year they are I just got word that they are uploading information and it looks like in the next week we will have our Calendars our classes for summer in our system as soon as that's available we will let you know so that you can come and start registering for summer school classes and that will be offered evening and day here at the main campus then I also wanted to acknowledge our perfect attendance teachers and staff for a quarter 3 um we had 16 people on staff with perfect attendance congratulations to those people and of course 5 of those lucky individuals were selected for Starbucks gift cards so keep up the good work and thank you for being great role models to all of us um also wanted to mention that um student council will be having meetings this week here on the main campus at North Valley um I will be making PA announcements uh tomorrow to remind everybody that those will take place on Wednesday this week and then the student council is also planning a dance here for the morning and the evening program on Tuesday June 3rd so please put that on your calendars that's a big event coming up for them and let's see uh also in June we will will be putting out information about the annual LAUSD job hiring fair that will be taking place so stay tuned for that and then finally uh I want to wish you all a wonderful week thank you so much
