well happy summer session everybody this is principal McCarthy for the week of June 30th 2025 this is our second week of summer session and I want to remind everyone that it is only a 5-week summer session so we're very happy that you joined us we're having a wonderful summer session so far our classes are very full and it's great to see everybody continuing their education please be reminded that it's important that you are here every day we are working to achieve a higher persistence right this year throughout our programs and we need your help so we're asking you be a team player make sure that you're not only coming every day but by coming every day you're also helping support your school it's important that you're here so that you don't miss out on instruct ion and fall behind and remember you chose to be here because you have a goal in mind so how do you achieve that goal it starts by being in school every day so we're looking for a to seeing you here every single day students if you need to be out for any significant reason please communicate to your teachers so some updates for those of you that are new I release a video update every week and I ask your teachers to please share this information I give information for our students as well as our staff so to start with uh wanted to um let everyone know that this week what's going on is every week we will be having a safety or emergency drill so last week we had our non- evacuation fire drill and this week we on Wednesday morning and evening we will be having our earthquake drill this will be a non- evacuation drill but teachers please pull out your booklets that Miss Ramirez provided for you in your boxes that says um safety drills on for summer that has the schedule and it has the scenario please go over that with your students we expect everyone to practice the protocols in the event of an earthquake um although we will not be practicing the evacuation piece you will be practicing the drop hold and cover steps of an earthquake drill so teachers please review that with your students in preparation for this Wednesday's earthquake drill then I also want to share with all of you I'm going to go to my email real quick here and um show you that uh I have an email here that has a whole bunch of immigrants and immigrant Family Resources resources these are organ organizations across Southern California that offer Aid to people affected by the immigration sweeps or the ice raids there is financial assistance food assistance there's also employment assistant to help our undocumented individuals um there is health information and of particular importance there is the Los Angeles rapid response Network number that you can call for additional information support that number is 888 6244752 and there's 1 in Long Beach as well as the boil heist in Los Angeles area so I wanted to point those out to all of you I will be including those in my email teachers teachers I ask that you share those out with your students in fact please post that information in your classrooms also I wanted to um remind our staff that there's a big change coming for this coming school year for the 5 26 school year which we have now entered there will no longer be what is called an impressed account which means that the school district is getting rid of the use of checks and um that will be really Christine which means we are going to be using um credit cards that are assigned to the school for all of our purchases moving forward so please do not purchase anything as you know you shouldn't be purchasing anything without prior principal approval anyway but please do not purchase anything with the idea that you are going to be reimbursed in the uh new school year we can no longer do that so talk to your administrative supervisor we'll be discussing the go to calls more so that you understand what is going on moving into the new school year but again impressed accounts will be closed for the entire school district and then um finally I wanted to welcome officially um who will be starting in August with us our new advisor her name is Miss nurie Julio and we've got official word that she will be starting on August 13th we're excited to invite our new team member to the North Valley uh team and thank you very much everyone forward to speaking to you next week and visiting you in your classes happy summer
