hi everybody this is principal McCarthy and this is the week of July 14th 2025 yes we are on the fourth week of summer school so 2 more weeks to go everybody and I want to again encourage everyone to make sure that you have good strong daily attendance so that you can complete all your goals and your courses this summer so let's go ahead and start with some data now you know I'd love to share data because I think important that you know how the school is doing so let's take a look at the North Valley Line right here and um what's awesome about this is that we are this report was actually won um last week okay so that was week number 3 of summer school and if you notice that we are up to 1 361 students now of course it's more because it's a little bit later um but that is a 13.6% increase from the same time last year so that's really an amazing increase and as you can see if you move across the programs here's ESL that is very large enrollment up by 2 6.4% as compared to last year and then our adult ba basic is just um shooting it right out of the park here as far as the percentage it's up 160% now Abe for those of you that don't know that's our adult basic Ed program that involves our um weeding classes to strengthen our reading and writing skills and all of our basic math review classes so that we can get our strong enough so that we can pass our high school diplomas or take the high school equivalency exam or qualify for some of our Career Technical education courses so we are doing great in terms of enrollment and this was only at the third week so I can imagine I'm predicting we're going to have great overall enrollment for the um summer session all right next I wanted to mention to everybody that and I think I'll just pop over to our website um this week you know we're doing safety drills each week in the summer to practice our safety skills as a school community and this week we will be practicing on Wednesday morning and Wednesday evening the shelter in place as well so teachers please make sure that you review your safety uh packets their booklets actually with your students and uh you guys can't see mine but it's hanging on the back wall but all of the teachers should have gotten 1 and it reviews the different types of drills so please review that ahead of time with your students so they're prepared for practicing that safety drill then I wanted to let students know students we have all of our fall classes in our system at this time so now if you are a summer student or returning student this is called priority registration so um we encourage you to come in and take advantage of priority registration um in the ESL program The Counselor will be going out and talking to the classes but for our Career Tech in and our academic or high school diploma and equivalent why you are encouraged to come in and see a counselor and get yourself registered for your fall term classes please take advantage of this because after summer school is over so after this week and next week which is priority registration for all of you that are here we are opening classes up to the general public and as you know if you've been watching my videos our data went through the roof for last school year we were up oh my gosh I'll have to get you the exact number later but somewhere between 1800 and 2,000 additional students so I expect big growth this school year as well and then um finally I just wanted to mention to our teachers that there is professional development going on on August of 7th and 8th and I'll send this flyer out so please take advantage of this and thank you very much and have a great week
