hi everyone this is principal McCarthy with North Valley Occupational Center and this is the video update for the week of september 30th I cannot believe that it is October and we have already completed the first quarter of the school year here boy time certainly flies when we're having such great time at North Valley Occupational Center so let's start out by sharing a little bit of data first I want to show you where we're at as of september 9th the data shows that we are up by 20% as compared to the same time last year that is a huge number I am so excited to see that and I know that of course it's is only going to increase and we're only at the end of quarter 1 also I want to point out of course all of our programs are doing well and moving up but I want to really give a huge shout out to our CTE team look at this growth in our CTE programs as compared to the same time uh last year we are up by 42% that is amazing so great job everybody all the work you're doing to get everyone onboarded and into classes next I want to celebrate by sharing a list we started an attendance incentive this year for our staff and I wanted to point out that now we we've completed quarter 1 the all the folks on this list that are highlighted in yellow yellow we want to give a huge shout out to them because they were able to achieve perfect attendance each 1 of these individuals will be receiving a certificate of um appreciation for doing such a great job at recognizing this and 5 Lucky winners will be randomly selected which I will announce next week they will be receiving gift certificates for a job well done and we know that attendance is important especially students we know that if we come to school and we're here every day for you you're more likely to be in class so please thank your uh teachers and other staff for doing a fabulous job with attendance and please model their great Behavior next I want to go to our website so let's see if I can get us back over there we'll take a look at our website now on the website I wanted to point out a new feature this is super exciting for our students if you are looking for resources we are going to start posting a variety of different student focused resources for you you can locate this under Services by clicking on student support resources on our website or you can also go to students and click on there and notice how we're always adding new buttons so you can easily access information the newest button is right here student support resources if you click on that it will take you to some great new resources we want to make sure that we are an inclusive school and that we're supporting all the members of our community and our students so we have a wonderful lease that is 1 of our staff here miss Hatter line is functioning this year as our lgbtq plus liaison so if you have questions students or need support also staff you're welcome to reach out the flyer is on our website also there is information about we laxation that is available there are a variety of different um activities that you can access through schooly students and in addition our Los Angeles Reg adult education Consortium has some tenants rights workshops coming up for those of you that went or plan on renting soon note the dates on here you can get more information for other works uh work shops for students by scanning the QR code and finally there's going to be a newsletter and the link is located here specifically for students so I'm glad that I was able to share that and I hope you'll utilize that information students and staff please spread the word next I wanted to uh mention that we did have our wonderful instructional leadership team meeting today and your department chairs will be reaching out to fill you in on all the great ideas that we would like to be working on moving forward to improve our instruction and student learning and then finally I just wanted to mention that we do have our clerical advisor meeting this Friday that will be on zoom and we will send her a reminder link we're looking forward to meeting with that team and finally a shout out to our campus aide Roy Sido who has increased to 30 hours a week have a great week everyone
