this is principal McCarthy with the North Valley Occupational Center video update for the week of March 10th 2025 and we have got a busy couple of weeks ahead of us because we are getting ready for our annual job and community resource fair so our school has hosted this event in spring for many many years and it is quite successful bringing in people and employers that are looking to hire our students um and also provide resources and services so we are going to invite all of our students to participate it will be on March 28th and I'm going to go over to our website when you click on the website of course you should those of you that visit our website regularly should notice that we are using a a new feature for us which is the um news alert and on the news alert this will be the first page that will open up you don't want to close it if you want more information about the career fair but as you can see we're going to have this took place on March 28th and it'll be from it's a Friday from 10:30 to 1:00 p.m. so students um if you're looking to for a job and you want to impress potential employers make sure you dress business casual and you bring copies of your resume in fact we're going to even help you prepare for providing a workshop prior to the 28th it's free here on the campus for students to help them create the resume a very professional resume and also help them practice interview skills so let's take a look at the information here for the job fair so as you can see uh we've got all our information posted here on the website you'll want to go ahead and scan the QR code letting us know that you're interested we're just trying to get a good head count of how many people plan to participate and again that'll be here at the North Valley between those hours on the date of the 28th now like I said we want to prepare our students we want this to be a really meaningful experience now the great thing is is that on Fridays most of our students do not come to school or they only come partial day now students that is actually a good thing that we're having the career fair the career and uh resource Fair on that day because now you can focus in on meeting potential employers and getting the resources you need so I'm going to show you another flyer if you think you would like to take advantage of our free workshops for students this flyer was made available able to your teachers and you can also scan this QR code please register if you can buy tomorrow Tuesday March 11th and on Thursday this Thursday March 13th we will be having the North Valley campus 2 sessions available to help our students with creating professional resumes and also working on practicing their interview skills and that's going to take place all here at the main campus in the grill uh cafeteria area so um students please take advantage of that and then finally let's see what other information do I want to share with you this week that's the biggest thing and then I wanted to let you know that um I don't have data to show you but our school is is actually doing of course very well uh every week we've been growing in enrollment we actually have the second largest in enrollment in the adult division in La unified right now so we are trying to figure out ways to best accommodate our growing programs we anticipate by fall of next year we will have um quite a few new staff on board and that's exciting because we'll be offering new classes to address our very large um beginning ESL wait list as well as the need for additional Career Technical education training and then we hope to start rebuilding the academic high school diploma High School fluency program during the day at our East Valley skills Center branch that branch has not had a full program in the assay for some time now and uh that will be a goal of ours for next school year so um that is it for this week and I want to wish you all well have a beautiful week and take care and I'll see you next week bye bye
