why are my emails my repeated emails about the fact that you can access the recordings now of previous workshops from nvoc or and so I hope some of you have have to in that into account but in any case let's officially get started today this is the workshop Google slides with zoom and schoology part to let me go share the screen for just a moment and so you can see over here on the left side cold on the actual share button and what you're seeing on the left side the flyer for our spring workshops is that correct somebody give me some immediate feedback okay thank you and then so this is Google slides with schoology part 2 Friday March 12th or our next session will be project-based learning with multiple examples of how people are doing projects followed by Google Voice it's with the Antonio Nunez and after that flip weed with Willie at the floors and that's way more than enough and it's not like I haven't sent you multiple copies of this flyer but but somehow you know people always need to and on the right side you can see our agenda for today so we're doing the very very first part I'm going to drop the link into the chat right now actually where's my chat did I lose it because I'm sharing maybe let me just do that real quickly okay so there's the link to the attendance I'll go back to sharing but I will drop that it multiple times during the during the workshop because one of the things about a chat and zoom if you don't see old chat see chat that happened app after you join so again I think it's really exciting we're going to have a very very quick review just very quick almost minutes go in fact I think it's almost already about what Natalie cover last last session because there are so many exciting things that she's going to cover this time and I want to get right to it so without further Ado I will turn over the meeting to Natalie and just be quiet as much as I can but that's difficult also I did you want me to mention hyperlink inside your coat in the agenda I'm sorry to interrupt. Did you drop the attendants or not if I don't see it that's that's a new feature because chat to everyone in the waiting room I've never seen that one have you seen that so that's why I've used it in several classes about trapped everyone in didn't notice that okay so now is to everyone you should see it thank you Miss via for being with you. Out and so tell you what let me go now that you have the the agenda so you can talk about that little feature REI Doc and so I have the presentation for today hyperlink here on the presentation and I also have it available as a QR code so if this what were a physical flyer in person anyone could use their phone to scan the QR code and open up the presentation for today cuz it's kind of cool so what's good let's get started if you want to start the recording all right so Google slides part 2 Welcome Back knowledge is power this is your One-Stop shop virtual whiteboard putting all of your tools and resources in one place we are actually do not have time today to read you the basic tools that we that we used in the first presentation today is all about implementation and so if you have any questions how do I insert this how do I cut that how do I create a new slide save those questions till the end of the presentation because ideally I will give you about 30 minutes to create your own Google Slides presentation in a small group and you can work with other teachers in your group to create a little presentation and insert your images and all that good stuff so please try to save those tool function questions to the end if you can okay so what like to share any takeaways from the first presentation if you attended this cuz they oh yes I need more practice on the hyperlink but I'll do that on my own Tycoon very interested in me not being able to tag. word and that's something yeah yeah it looks nice and so they're just tasting a link to have it as text yeah yeah anyone else to take away from the last presentation Natalie I do this is Miss busy and I there two things with Janie also put down about toggling between programs I didn't know that so that was very helpful but also today I was the plc facilitator for my math group and I I do use the slides but I did what you talked about when you do in your classroom about actually the information they were giving me I was putting it on the sly I guess they were talking so I like that and I did that at the you know today yeah typing in real time like I'm doing now is exactly what I do with my students I enlisted student answers I type and organically we are Odyssey clarification the students are practicing pronunciation being clear and they can see when I understand something when I don't so it's engaging a lot of these skills at the same time so yes I'm really glad I thought you had that at the takeaway I'm in anyone else this one last take away or not that's a good place to start I'll let's get to it then so here's our agenda for today I know mr. said it already but I'm going to go through Best Practices to sort of communicate to you what I think the most efficient way to use Google Slides zoom and integrating it with schoology how that works I'm going to present you with example activities and then like I said I want to give you about half an hour to create your own activity on Google slides in a breakout room and present with other teachers that's our plan so let's get into it with best practices these are just things that I've discovered along the way I always have a warm up the beginning of class as students arrived in so I never have to explain what we're doing it's there and it's clear for students to start engaging in as soon as they arrived and we can all begin together as the students tricoli naturcolor I always presents the objective or daily questions for students to engage with what they are learning that day one big stick the way that I hope you get from today's presentation if you need to be aware that you are using these presentations for future use on so you need to format them accordingly students will be seeing this presentation in Zoom obviously and also on schoology and so we'll talk about what that looks like later always say and write your instructions and by right actually going to make a modification here this is exactly what I do with my I make a mistake or I want to change something I'll just go ahead and do it in life presentation say and type your instructions and there are multiple reasons for this differentiated learning some stewed what are auditory systems are visual so you have to have not only your activity but have your instructions your steps there a typed out you know it's also Zoom you know it's sometimes my audio cuts out so if I'm typing we can still all stay together let's see what else did I want to say about this I also typed the time for the activity so I give 50 minutes 10:15 to 10:30 and I always set timers on my phone or activities so that way the students know exactly what they're supposed to be doing how much time they have and we have a bit of fluff to our lesson are all on the same page another big take away from today's presentation I hope is that you collect and save student answers and teachers notes so that students when they see the price vacation in the future on schoology when they revisit they have all of the student answers and any notes that you've made and this is important in terms of equity because some students are going to have technology issues and students are not going to be able to come consistently and so if you have this presentation available for them to see then they have more access to their education is that makes sense yeah and of course like I said you will share ideally share your presentation will the G I always start after I've presented okay so I've been look my phone because I have speaker notes for Google Slides so you can access your speaker notes on a second device while you're presenting on Zoom you just need Google slides on your phone and have your presentation open and open to secret note so as you can see down here these are my speaker notes and this is what I'm checking on my phone or anything that you will make a note to yourself that you want to stay you can see it on during a location okay well that's not what I wanted I want to continue from this point so just a cool if that interests you check it out all righty example let's see Google slides in action here's a warm-up examples that I did this week earlier this week as you can see just a slide answer the present perfect questions here is my moonshot capture of the notes that I took so I opted to use Doom annotations here these are all student answers and these are my notes that I made as we were talking about questions and answers the top half was a review of the day previous they had we were learning how long and using present perfect and number 4 through 7 were types of questions that we would be learning that day and so I asked them what is the difference between these questions and engaging in that way Arizona wedding sample of oh I forgot something when I do a warm-up like I said I will type using Zoom annotation a long I want them to do this 74 and I will put the time and so students know okay that's how much time I have and I set the timer on my phone I don't necessarily save that Natalie quick question when you say Zoom application do you mean the patient no not the Whiteboard you can annotate bring your screen share so I am annotating I'm using the zoom annotate function right now when I type 10 minutes okay then you get that where this is the zoo this is on the bottom of your screen when you're presenting I have your screen shared there is an option called annotate and it gives you the annotation functions and I clicked text I clicked and then I start typing it might depend on the on the device you're using because my annotations are at the top when I pass my mouse up to the top of the menu drops down and I think I think that it depends on where your screen sharing Bart is different for the host versus participants as well just look for zumanity annotate functions that's something you can practice in your I got room for short all right so objective example can I have a volunteer please read today's objectives I'll read please today I will be able to identify key words commonly used with present perfect and use them to communicate actions or events that began in the past and continue to the present that occurred in the past at an unspecified time repeated in the past and continue to the present thank you and now might be an opportunity where you asked students to use annotate on their end do Circle or underline the most important words here in the objective so someone Savvy and wants to do that on there and real quick just for demonstrative purposes go ahead and circle using annotate I'm trying to get to it look see and how to get to annotate for Natalie and so I think when you're a you do have to go now and then you'll have some options and at 8 is one of them but view options okay this somewhere but as you can see this is one option maybe you're already you've already done this in your class let's keep going thank you for engaging with this okie dokie what's next so here is just an agenda example perhaps you want to present your agenda at the beginning of your resume class we have warm up questions with keywords for present continuous presentation we will do the textbook activities Pages 32 32 then we will do never have I ever group activity and then we will do a keyword speaking activity and this might be a good time for you to incorporate the SLO it however you see fit oh I use daily questions with my students to help students connect what we're learning today was how they will use it in their everyday lives so this is an example from my able to class I asked one of my learning today they said family members and how to describe people why is it important and they said it is important to talk about family and describe people that's fine you know how do I how do you know you I can I can describe my family the people in my family so this is a good way to for students to connect the dots about what am I living today why does it matter to me right formatting of the slides that says things to keep in mind as you're creating your Google Slides you need to be aware of the size and font where I'm at on the cell phone I really like this Pink Beam but I don't think it's very is so friendly this font is not so great for ESL students and also it's going to be even more difficult to read on a cell phone so keep that in mind always provide a visual of the activity and written instructions so that's what we're talkin about today a lot is how do I put my visual so all the students can see we're doing there are several ways to do this than most simple way is a text box on Google Slides typing your activity you can nip or screenshot from a digital textbook or other resources capturing an image from something else online and inserting into your it into your Google Slides another option is I've got my physical textbook I really just what's your on the page just take a picture and insert that picture into Google Slides the last option is a schoology activity where we have all these activities on schoology you can have all students director at listen to the ecology activity and students can share their screen do you need to leave space on the right because a lot of students are not people with moving the faces around so every time I do a Google Slides presentation I move the text box I make it slow I make it slower I make it smaller so as you can see here when I moved this I have it on eight and a half cuz it's it's as if you haven't if you don't move it in the right part of it is cut off by our faces by Zoom participants I also I also leave a little space on the bottom because sometimes I just have weirdness with my taskbar showing up and cutting it off so just leave space on the bottom and remember that you need to need space to collect or display the student answers where are you going to write your student answers you've got your activity the instructions where you going to put the student answers and your notes so just be aware that keep it you were friendly and make sure you have space for putting your student answers was there anything else I wanted to say so here is an example of a an activity that we have inserted using textbox it's the same activity I presented before of my warm up this is simply a text can we talk this is an example of using the Snipping Tool this is an activity that I grabbed from Ventures online this is actually from the physical activities that Ventures provide at provided in the past this was a matching activity so I just used my Snipping Tool and I grabbed these pictures and inserted it presented the students with these questions what is the problem what should they do and then we talked about the answers together and I had to type 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 and I grabbed this picture from the ventures online resource and copied it into my Google flights the Snipping tool is one of my favorite things to use very very useful if you haven't used it already Snipping tool on Windows you have to pull up the Snipping tool program BMW to pull it up from your start key or search bar in the search in the toolbar type Snipping Tool and select it and you click new and you dragged across the area that you want to capture release your mouth now you have the picture in your Snipping Tool you will copy and paste it copy it from the Snipping Tool window and paste it into the Google Slides much the same on Max you fast and hold shift command and for you dragged across Heracross what you want to select and release your mouth and then I don't have a Max but this is what Google told me you if you see a thumb in the corner of your street you click it to edit the screenshot or wait for the screenshot to save to your desktop I'm not really sure what that so how are we doing on time it is one already so I'm not going to give you time to try this out right now you can always return to this live later try it out on your break out room I'm going to give you access to this presentation as soon as I'm done talkin so you will have time on your break out room to give this a try okay but he's a physical textbook example I took a picture of the page I put it on my Google Slides presentation and then I insert a textbox when's the answer you gave me. how do you do that you take a photo with your phone email the photo to yourself and take the photo from the email and insert it into your Google Slides presentation there might be better way to do it but that's what I've done it gets the job done if someone else knows a better way of doing that by all means let me know alright keep on going and the last way of presenting and I unified activity as a group is when you're using schoology and of course you can share your screen to show the activity on schoology perhaps you also at the same time shut your students to go to schoology and complete the activity on their devices maybe they have a second device that they can use if not you can teach students to move between the open programs like we did last time you can tell them command tab on Mac or alt tab on Windows I had my level five six students do this up to you are you might also choose to teach students how to move between open on their cell phones optional up to you all right so let's talk about what it looks like when you're in breakout rooms and the students are off on their own what are they doing where's the activity what's going on so we have our daily lesson plan sequence right we have our warm-up review we've had our presentation we had our whole group activity we collected and saves Dune answers and teacher no now we're in the breakout room activity when I talk about what that looks like and how to collect and save student answers and teacher notes from the breakout room activity so this is the procedure is probably very familiar to you by now you model the activity students restate the instructions Type S A and type B activity time how long is this activity going to be give students festive activities we will talk about that more but these are the different methods students can take a picture or screenshot with their cell phones if they are doing zoo on their phone you can provide a link in the chat so students all opens link and they have the activity there still can go to schoology of course and the students themselves can share their screen we will get into these here soon my best practices for breakout rooms as I pair students who I know understand with students who don't because just for the sake of time for the sake of time I'm like I just please check and make sure because if I have soon so don't understand all together I'm stuck in their breakout room the entire time or maybe they get forgotten and they don't know how to ask for help so good practice to do that We Begin our breakout room address the option to send announcement to the breakout rooms I don't use this but it is an option I would visit the breakout rooms that I sent need me most so I go to the breakout rooms where I think perhaps I need to help students get started and I always check I always check to make sure there aren't any misunderstanding because it's clear as I think I might be with my presentation of the activity sometimes there is still interpretation and so I try to go quickly between the rooms to make sure everyone is doing the activity or doing something close to it and then I can start listening in and see how activities progressing make sure everybody understands and when you return on the Samus returns Dunes can demonstrate the activity of course we have at each opportunity here and we collect those student answers for assessment for clarity and for posterity alright here's an example of a student sharing their screen what is the shout out to Janie Cliff for staying up with me till 11:30 last night going through this presentation this is an example of Jenny was a participant in my zoom I gave her the link to my presentation and Jamie shared her stream Jamie is an amazing substitute and she creates Google Slides presentation for class wednesday Subs whether or not there is already a presentation provided by the teacher you need someone to sub call Jamie Cliff advertisement for you so how do students share their screens first you have to share the presentation with the students and we've probably been counted this before that pesky privacy setting which I know is there to protect us but could be a little confusing you have to click share right website to clickshare up here and when you click share you have to change the privacy settings from restricted to LAUSD to anyone with the link and actually maybe I should add that here to stay LAUSD to anyone with the link alrighty and then you copy and paste your link in the chat this link here also students click the link and presentation opens in their internet browser so this they need to be able to move between zoom and their internet browser which they can do by doing all top or command-tab and then within their breakout rooms this to can share the Google Slides presentation itself so at the beginning of quarantine we we were all we had our students go on the breakout rooms and the screen was gone it was no more the students can have access to your Google Slides presentation they can share their own screen within the breakout room if that's appropriate for your class and you need to be a need to give students the share screen ability the way that you do that is on the bottom of your screen as a host there is an option for security and it says allow participants to and you check share screen and then all of the students will be able to share their screen that being said when I have my break out rooms I designate a student meter for each room to share a Google slide presentation when I have done this in the past I had a grammar activities and I also had grammar charts on previous flights so that the student leader could go back and check their grammar chart before it while they were doing the activity in their right so yeah all right the other really important part of this household is collecting student answers and teacher notes though so you can see here I did not follow my own room of the 8.5 in into 4 notes is cut off so we got to got to fix that we got to move this text box over so is clear now I can breathe again so we are collecting student notes and answers and teacher notes for posterity so students can see later so students who missed class can see what the answers in your notes and students who how to review the presentation later can return to it already so how do we do that type student answers in real time in the text box as we have said I'm already a few times this allows students to practice speaking connecting speech to writing cuz they written their answers so they're reading their answers connecting Rite Aid to reading to speech and there are ganick Lee learning to ask and answer clarification questions the students need to speak clearly and enunciate for not words so that the teacher can hear them so this is my favorite thing to do and I think it's actually a benefit to online learning versus in the classroom you can also type student answers in real time with zoom annotate as I as we talked about earlier you may want to put your answers in a text box and it may be more appropriate to just type something real small over here cuz I can type whatever I want and put it wherever I really quickly when I use zoom annotate this allows me to move things around especially if I have more and more and more notes that are coming up soon as they're asking great question I can move things around easily you cannot move things around so easily within Google Slides you just have the text box so just be aware of that all right when you do use them annotate do you have to remember to take a screen chat with zoom and insert it into the Google Slides after class got to capture those student answers capture those teacher notes and inserted into the Google Slides on the way I think I'm going to explain this later how to take a screenshot in the zoom you can also copy and paste and answers from the chat or a Google doc active got student answers elsewhere you can just copy and paste it into your Google Slides if you wish to capture those student answers that way and of course you can share your screen to display other tools like Schoology but if you're not copying and pasting into Google Slides again you should take a pic and take a screenshot so future students can see what examples you gave that were not within the Google Slides presentation originally okay yes yes here we go straight I'm so glad how do you screenshot and zoom you share your screen the BAM you click annotate the BAM it could save this downloads a screenshot into your resume folder and this folder for me it opens up automatically after my zoom class ends and zoom closes if you click there's a little parent here little down arrow and if you click it you can select king or PDF I'll I don't change it to PDF that's an option so you can do that here is an example collecting student answers This Is My Level 2 class then my students introduced their partner so this is a slide further down we had an activity where they answer these questions and then they wanted to break out rooms and they asked their partner and they wrote down their Partners information and third-person sentences they came back after the zoom the breakout activity and I had a child students answer one of these questions about their partner and then I captured it with with the zoom screenshot I didn't know if I had chosen to use the text box actually that would have been just as fine but I like to use new meditation cuz I can quickly add more information like tiles and children and underlining that are important this is another example that I did this week teaching my students about the correct format for emails we have subject feeding body closing signature so this is what I presented to my students and then we went through and I asked them what is at the top of the email what is next what is next what is next so I typed in real time using Zoom annotation so this is all of my students responses as a group we collaboratively created this email together and I was able to draw the arrow use the arrows to draw their attention and so this story unfolded and then I captured it with my screenshot through Xoom okie dokie I forget anything no alright other tools you can is your screen share to display student answers on other digital tools such as schoology jamboard padlet Google Docs whatever you're using that's great that's fine you can have a link to it and Google Slides presentation to remind you to go to it but you have to remember to take those screenshots and put them back in the Google Slides presentation so students can easily see what you did next when you left him go slides presentation and of course how do you put your slides presentation on schoology your in your class your in your materials we add an external tool at an external to insert your url and put your title submit and remember that you have to change those privacy settings before you do so changing it from restricted to LAUSD only to anyone with the link which was I previous slide alrighty so as I have been saying we want to use keep these a Google slides for posterity so what happens when you want to use the same annotation next semester it has all these student answers on it has all these teacher notes populated find the presentation you created in the past in your Google Drive make a copy you can delete those play Play Store remove the student answers remove those screenshots your notes you use the create new presentation during your class you update that presentation with the student responses and teacher notes of back you upload the new presentation to school at do I duplicate my presentations for every class in this way because the other ones if you edit a Google slide presentation that you have used in the past it's going to edit Within Disturbed previous Willett Ecorse cuz that's where it's linked to so if you change it in one place it'll change it in the other places that you have shared your Google Slides presentation hey so we're getting to the good stuff how am I doing on time do we have time to practice I think we're doing good okay I'm going to try to go through this quickly these are just some ideas but I have done in the past but my big takeaways are always type your instructions always collect student answers so let's talk about reading how do we go about doing a reading activity on our Google Slides presentation how do you put that passage on Google Slides you can use that text box just type it copy and paste it you can insert an image like we talked about you can have a link to an article a link to Newsela to the New York Times you can choose to take screenshot or sniffing use the Snipping tool to capture the article on the other page or you can just have the link in your Google Slides but here are just some reading activity tips or ideas and thinking about how you're doing this while you're on Zoom you can preview or contextualize your reading with visuals or prompts before we get to the reading you can create an find Matt like so or a graphic organizer you can do this with in Google Slides or use it on the zoom whiteboard just capture that after the fact and put it into your Google Slides I use zooman I hate all the time use the spotlight function to keep scanning draw circles and underline to identify key information use arrows to develop comprehension and then to indicate sequencing use a survey or a or you could you can survey the students or quiz them with a Google form or a zoom pole if you wish to assess a student's reading when you are retaining the student answers and you're collecting those notes that you will have written you want it sometimes you might need to create a new slide to type on because it might still up so you might need to be creating new slides in real time with the students or you take those screenshot if visually it's not too crowded I hope that I hope that makes sense oh yes I wanted to mention that one other thing that I use a lot is I do fill in the blanks so if the students are not grasping something they are not understanding that the past participle different and I will toss and I will use my Zune white or and I will say I have a teacher for 3 years I have ears or 10 years it also helps that I'm a fast typer and I will just stop and I will say what is this what is this I'm always using fill in the blanks to students identify of basically the same exact thing as if you were in front of a physical whiteboard and then I would use my screenshots to capture it afterwards because if the students needed this real time it will help students to see it at a future time when they're reviewing their Google Slides presentation okay so let's get out of my zoom white orgies thank you we're done writing when you have a writing activity it's pretty straightforward you're going to display or type your prompt your exam your scaffolding on your Google slides on your whiteboard students can write in their notebooks but you know you do need to capture that student student answers type of student answers whilst read from the notebooks like we talked about copy and paste from the chat copy and paste or take screenshots of schoology or the other tool that you have used I don't know if I mentioned this but I'm not a fan of having students type in the cat I think it's more read for students to practice typing on schoology and practice their writing and typing on schoology I use school time or Zoom time synchronous time for them to write physically in their notebooks and then communicate with me like it's much quicker and more efficient and they still do get that practice typing on their devices or the astrology assignments okay so this is just an example of a an essay structure jigsaw activity did I did this was a this this is a link here is hyperlinked and it is a slideshow about the structure but three paragraph essay so if I exit my presentation here I can click this link and open it for my students to see so what I did was I gave this link I copied and pasted this link put it in the chat I guess I can just do that right your students here is the link to the slideshow and then I had the students open this link and read about the three paragraph essay and I had three check out rooms and I had one break one room for each part of the essay to teach what they learned about the introduction one group. What they learned about the body paragraph about what they learned about the conclusion let's see student answers this is what they different groups had to say so this was group one this was group to this is group three I should also mention that while the students all had the activity open I provided to lie to everyone I did have a student leader share their screen so that all students can be looking at 1 at the same time and then after we went over this one of my students said Miss Natalie this is just like a conversation and I was like yeah it is though I wrote her in but you're off to the side cuz I love what she had to say how do we do a listening activity in schoology this is pretty straightforward because listening is more audio than visual but you know you have to teacher dictation or pure dictation we're playing audio or we're playing video pretty straightforward started display your prompt and hyper listening tips the students can see it while they're listening and in in that vein you can choose students visually with your Zoom annotation or by typing in real time while the other or the video plays so for example if I am having students answer questions like one question 1 2 3 for the 5 and I've got wood where you know I might use my Spotlight to show them listen for number one now we're on to number two and they can see visually and hopeful be able to follow along more easily with the audio so you can use visual cues during a listening activity alrighty o I don't want my spot light anymore thank you other he's okay so here's just some other random ideas oh my gosh I only have a few more minutes there's a sequence activity with word art that you told me about so you would share your Google Presentation in the chat or this is actually a mistake students can move and then students can move the words around to the correct place or a sequence activity so you can physically have the words in your presentation didn't have access to the presentation and student can move it around you just have to make sure that students have editing ability which is actually slightly different now that I think about it so anyone with link plus editor I forgot to mention that so when you're doing copy link if you want to give students the ability to interact with your slide and not just view it we have to change this from viewer to editor so the students can actually physically things around I usually don't do this that's why I forgot what for this activity students need editor abilities to your presentation but then be aware that students have editing abilities to your presentation Jeopardy Ivy's Jeopardy in the class and the past Seasons to the question and the teacher proceed to the corresponding slide I have used a tic-tac-toe we're correct correct answers and students Annex aren't I also use is a Google slides with rubrics and to facilitate pure grading so let's go here is an example of a sequence activity provided by and visit Julie cross and so you click here for the answer here is the concert and so like I said students have the ability to move the different word art around she will put them in the correct order here's an example of Jeopardy so this was for students who were reviewing compounds comparative and subject what is this I can't see this cuz I did not but over subject complement and so students would say I want comparatives for 10 points or compounds for 15 points so as you I see here I have all of the questions and what I would do is up if you've told me I want to do compounds for 10:15 here is compounds 4:15 if I just click to it it has the answer so I would that you want compounds for 15 you got it I'm going to stop share I'm going to put it on the correct slide I'm going to put it in presentation mode and now all right here's compounds for 15-point choose the correct answer A or B and then you reveal the answer I forgot to mention that the way that you do this so that the answer appears once you click that is a function of format insert an animation so this is what I this is what I'm animating I do insert I click anime Haitian and then here is the selected text box and I'm tic-tac-toe example for the students have to fill in the blank and when students have a correct answer we can say X or o fun you know how cute I'm going to take a screenshot of this so I can add it to this presentation afterwards cuz I didn't think to do that till now where's my save oh night here's an example of rubric this is a rubric that my TLC group came up with and so this is the examples for the CFA an email you can see what I was working on this week so I have a student example here on the left and have the rubric on the right and so what we did is first we went through and we identified all the errors in the student example with zoom annotate and then we went through and graded the student we identified the errors we counted them and we decided together as a group how what school or the student earned or hear is assumed screenshot of that work that we did here are the and here are the scoring so we understand that you keep asked with 12 points Natalie oh good I just saw that and it said your turn so I was going to suggest to you that you transitioned to that part of media activity and then and then you flash that slide so I realized I'll be quiet I'm amazed by you but I'll be quiet one less thing is that for this weed it rated this as a group and I also had examples the same as this where I had students take pictures and gray in their breakout rooms with a partner so first we did it as a group and then they had their own examples that they graded with a partner and then after that they wrote their own emails they put it on the fashion boards on schoology and then the students braided each other's work cuz they found their Partners entry on the discussion board and use the rubric to grade their student work so this is an example of integrated Google slides into Zoom breakout rooms in to schoology with that I want to give you time however you are inspired to create a Google Slides presentation activity you're still perhaps you can use it next week and so I'm going to open up breakout rooms for you room room one is a reading activity room to is writing activities room 3 is listening activities room or is other I want you to join whichever room you are inspired to join and you have time to create your own activity ask other teachers questions and then you'll have some time ideally to present to the other teachers in your group as a farrier you didn't so yeah I'm going to share this presentation in the chat and then I will open up the breakout rooms in the fact that the ability for the party 2 pence in the meeting to select their own breakout room is the new feature which they may not be aware of so please announce that I'm going to open the breakout room were you and so you can choose which record when you'd like to join and you will see they are labeled reading activity writing activity listening activity other activity so I want you to go forth and create and collaborate with other teachers however you wish using Google Slides so are there any questions before I send you out into the Breakout yes yeah I just wanted to say I'm going to at this point of Gotham other things I have to get done but I just been a great lot breakout room and they find their the only person in the breakout room is everybody has chosen to separate break room that's a great that's a great question I'm going to ask Miss Jane Eclipse to stay with me and we can go wherever we are needed after school is there room for your earlier modeling or your earlier suggestion about using the breakout room you or and or Jamie will be rapidly visit visiting each one of them touch base first and then you will cycle back to spend more time is needed is that correct Christian High could you review how the students can select their own breakout rooms that was not clear to me oh yeah so this is just new so what you'll do is when you have when you create your break out rooms there is an option now this was just a little when you click when you set up the breakout rooms there will be an option that says participants can select their own rooms thank you this was my first time doing this today so I don't so clearly but it is an option once you set up the breakout rooms and then what happens is when use instead of being automatically toll do you know you should go to break at you've been in know you've been asked to join breakout room to click on the link to join the room now you'll be giving a screen with choices and then you just you click you read the titles or the knee and you click on the one that you wish to join if you don't feel comfortable creating an activity at this time and you want to stay in the main room and I actually just don't just pick one and don't give them teachers are doing everyone has to choose a breakout room join a room and if you not sure what you want to do wait and see what other teachers choose and maybe you can go where other students and other students were other teachers are not you can populate the room that is his only one or two people for example I'll wait here until you tell me what to do please and I'm learning as well because what I see is I see the list of rooms as a host not as important to my earlier question I can tell for example that in one of the breakout rooms only one student has joined so far so I know as a host I could go to that room and either suggest an alternative activity or something that's correct sitting room with Miss Casale really quick do you want me to stay there the whole time or like cuz I don't know how to get back out I don't think I have the ability to get back out of the break you do have the ability to rewrite items breakout room auction you don't see a breakout room option I'm going to go join the reading which rent which room would you like to go to some place people in writing writing you got it thank you course and then I forgot what I was saying all of that stuff none of the people could hear me because they were out in other rooms what's really great for me too so yes you're doing wonderfully and so as I'm looking out I see that there are two in the reading activity of course you put Jamie and there is well the writing activity any sorry so you said and then so it looks it so why don't you go ahead and I'll stay here in the main room because one thing I did find out was when I go to a breakout room the recording stops you also have the option to pause a recording if you wish so when you can hop around if you want but go ahead and then I'll also make a little tour as well without interrupting them but in your view when you go around remind them when they choose to leave the boy cat room not to leave the meeting yet what did I have to add at one point I was like oh I should have added how to do this how to animate a slide that's what I said I'm going to make going to pause the recording okay so I have started the recording again now that we're people should be coming back yet so I certainly think I forgotten go see if I can find the agenda again we're going to have a little yeah you have a teacher's present correct I see okay I think if you want to ask perhaps the group with one person wants to share but they found out and then we'll do the closing cuz I have the in the two groups I visited I didn't get the impression that people work individually creating slides but they were sort of brainstorming guess group about doing one slide presentation collaborating with other teachers however organically that happened I'm so welcome back everybody I'd love to hear from each breakout room just a takeaway one person to give one take away the from reading list say oh and Jamie thanks to a Jamie's help I learned how to unban n thank you for calling and Suzanne okay is that a yes I learned how to you know I create a hyperlink in my reading. In a text and also to upload the screenshot and it was really cool because I'm I want to do that so we did a recipe and excerpt from some online articles that was really good thank you may I have a tick the writing activity room yeah. So we had a great example for Miss Miller who was designing a presentation that she has to show and I think two minutes to an hour inserted something more interactive which has been the big breakthrough for me if this training is take life and not having them just be a framing device for instruction but having to be something that like produces too. the word eliciting Unisom writing and then I also kind of told me really good to hear can I hear from listening activity group I think Chris is brainstorming and the big takeaway that we have is we learns how to embed a listening exercise from a textbook over into the screen the slideshow and it's super easy it's just knowing what to do and inserted an audio that she has already in our PLC group of her stating a lot of different verbs so it was something she already had pre-recorded 253 950 burps I will say that Google Slides is I would say very user-friendly and very clickable so click around in the end and it'll come to you and our other activities 89 teachers can I hear a takeaway catch on okay so I was volunteered so we when we were in broomweed was kind of started talking about how to do The annotation thing cuz a lot of us didn't know how know a lot of us do know how but also we were trying to household help mr. Chalmers cuz he wanted to start you slides for his agenda zippers I said class so we are trying to get give him the information he needed for that how to put a PDF onto his thing which I think we help them with but I'm not sure whether we did or not I think you wanted to make an announcement that our yes so the regularly scheduled workshops as you know from the flyer pretty set through the end of the semester but I will work with Miss Venetia and you know our Administration to see if during my regularly scheduled office hours you know in the next Buicks coming up we can have a Miss Benicia join for specifically you know updates and practicing on using Google Slides so that idea would be during my regularly scheduled office hours for sure more of like a free-for-all you know people come in and ask a question and then leave we could organize some actual dates where you know I would email out and say Natalie is going to be in the office hours on this particular date and time you know took Focus weekly on using Google Slides so I will let you know about that when that gets arranged and so that's a good segue to conclude today's nvoc wioa technology webinar and I really thank you Natalie Venetia and and Janie for helping as well with this really really great and productive webinar Round of Applause or use your reaction you know icon to show her how much we appreciate it I'm not going to use the the are there any snakes that you learned today that you would like to review to take up too much time but if you want to drop those in the chat that would be great it looks like from the spreadsheet that everybody did sign in so I hope that that you did and I know that Natalie is welcome to having to receiving emails from you individually is that correct about that and again thank you Natalie for all those preparation and hard work that you and no invested in this presentation in the one two weeks ago really really wonderful.
