Overview

This competency-based course prepares students with classes in ethics, safety principles, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, growth and development, psychology and nutrition. Also studied are medical, surgical, obstetrical and pediatric nursing. The students are prepared clinically in health care facilities supervised by the instructor and staff members. Upon completion of this course the graduates may take the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination). Grads passing this examination may work as Licensed Vocational Nurses under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician.

A. The VN Program is a 13-month program.

 

Q. What is the class schedule like?

A. The schedule is full time, Monday through Friday, day shift. (No night classes.)

 

Q. How much does the program cost?

A. The programs costs between $6,200 - $7,000.

 

Q. Are there requirements to be accepted?

A. Yes, there are requirements to be accepted. (See below.)

 

 

Admission Criteria

• Be at least 17 years of age, but will be 18 years old by graduation (Please note: Some clinical facilities require students to be 18 years old for externships)

• Official high school transcripts from a valid high school or high school equivalency certificate

• Two forms of government issued identification

• Healthcare experience (volunteer/work/education) recommended

• Complete the vocational nurse application

• Submit a resume

• Complete a 30-minute admissions essay

• Obtainment of a Basic Life Support (BLS) card recommended

• Points given for military experience

• Pass Casas Reading 12th & Match 11th grade level

• ATI TEAS passing score 55

• Pass Panel Interview
